Emily is a managing litigation attorney at Kagan Law PLLC. Emily is a graduate of Elon University School of Law. Prior to law school, Emily obtained her MSW from Columbia University in New York City. During that time, she worked for the Court Appointed Special Advocates in Brooklyn, New York, representing youth in foster care. Emily also spent many summers working at the Jewish Association for Residential Care (JARC) in Boca Raton, Florida, working with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities were she developed a desire to advocate on behalf of underprivileged individuals.

While in law school, Emily was a Dean’s Scholar, an Advocacy Fellow, the Editor-in-Chief of The Elon Law Review, and a Board Member of the Moot Court team. Upon graduating, Emily won an Excellence in Legal Research & Writing Award, Excellence in Advocacy Award, and an Excellence in Pro Bono Award for completing more than 75 pro bono service hours while in law school. During law school, Emily worked for a local law firm practicing Social Security Disability and Workers’ Compensation plaintiff law. She also worked at the Elon Law Humanitarian Immigration Law Clinic serving refugees with disabilities.

Additionally, in May of 2020, Emily was published in the Elon Law Review for her article entitled “Almost Citizens: How the Medical Exception Continues to Limit Refugee Naturalization.” Prior to joining Kagan Law, Emily was an Associate Attorney and then a Junior Partner for a civil litigation firm in South Florida where she ran the Intellectual Property department. Emily is committed to advocating for Florida residents to get the recovery they deserve for their property damage.

Outside of work, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband and their goldendoodle, Wrigley. Emily also enjoys working out and getting as much fresh air as possible, whether it’s taking a long walk, golfing, or playing basketball.
